Our lifestyles and food quality make it difficult for even the most disciplined individual to lose weight. Sitting behind a desk all day is not conducive to maintaining a healthy weight. Walking from your house to your car and from your car to the office on repeat is counter productive to your efforts. Unlike most people on the planet, we have access to the largest food supply in the world. The quality of that food supply filled with hormones, antibiotics, cloned meat and GMOs is extremely questionable. All is not lost. We have free will on our side. Find your power through hypnotherapy.
Outside of societal and economic pressures, what is it that keeps you locked in a place of unsuccessful weight loss? As hypnotherapists, we get to the source of the issue. Within this field is a concept called secondary gain. It is based on the premise that humans engage in self destructive behavior based on a level of good they receive from those very same detrimental actions. For some of my patients, being overweight or obese gave provided them with the secondary gain of being invisible. The journey of weight loss forces people to tackle long standing issues going back to their childhoods. Hypnosis defines secondary gains for the growth of the patient.
Change Limiting Beliefs
Hypnosis is not about putting clients in a trance or a dream like state. In fact, hypnotherapy strives to hold you in the space right before you drop off into sleep. It taps into the subconscious mind where there is least resistance. In this place of limited resistance, we can help you change limiting beliefs, break old patterns and take control of your thoughts. You can see how hypnotherapy can be extremely beneficial. We can bypass the conscious mind where you hold fear, doubt and worry and get to the heart of the matter.
Using Imagery as a Tool
You probably got in trouble for daydreaming when you were a child. Societal programming has made it so that we rarely daydream as adults. With hypnotherapy you are encouraged to use your imagination. During hypnosis, the therapist will ask you to picture in your mind’s eye what you will look like if you lost 10, 20 or 50 pounds. Imagery will help to reinforce weight loss. If you can see it, you can achieve it. You will also be given audio weight loss recordings to listen to while you are sleeping to reinforce the methodology.
Hypnotherapy is not a Quick Fix
While hypnotherapy is a proven tactic to lose weight, it is not a quick fix. You will not lose 10 pounds in one week. Hypnosis allows you to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week, as you would if you hired a nutritionist, dietician or personal trainer. This is the recommended approach to weight lost. The even better news is that you will keep it off. Unlike fad diets, crash diets and extreme boot camps, the weight won’t return because we would have tackled the core issues surrounding limited beliefs about weight, beauty, perception and childhood traumas.
